Three short “songs” for flute, written when my son was two years old, that present three different “imperfect” states of being with which I was becoming increasingly familiar: impulsiveness, bewilderment and belligerence, all seen through the lens of love. The player is also asked to interact with their instruments in three different ways, with a particular focus on the physical/biological mechanisms involved in the control of fingerings, breath and embouchure.
Tre Canzoni Imperfette was commissioned and premiered by Luca Manghi.
